Portugal - Alentejo

Between Lisbon and the Algarve lies the region of Alentejo (the land beyond the Tagus river). Being one of the warmest regions of Portugal, it is well known for its laid back attitude.. which is also kind of fitting for some of its more frequent tourists: Surfers… “No worries!”.

The south west coast of Portugal (this region) is known to be the best surfing in Europe.. well even if its not the best, then the waves are big, the beaches are long and sandy and the weather is hot enough to encourage you to want to ride those waves.

If you are visiting the area, don’t forget to get your dose of history for your holiday by dropping in on the town of Evora. Megalithic monuments, Roman ruins, Medieval castles and great examples of Portuguese architecture can all be found in and around this reasonably compact town.
